A lovely Spring wedding at Venue by Three Petals in Huntington Beach
Kim and Jerry were married on a gorgeous day in May at the Venue by Three Petals in Huntington Beach. Their photographer and the videographer were Lin & Jirsa Photography who captured all the details of their day. The florist, Better Choice Flower created the wall draping for the wedding and reception as well as the beautiful ceremony canopy.
How did you meet?
It all started when we first met in Mrs. Porter’s 2nd grade class at Lake Forest Elementary. We also quickly learned that we shared the same March 15, 1985 birthday. We grew up with a similar circle of friends, and remained close throughout the years. It wasn’t until December 2011 that Jerry mustered up the courage to ask Kim out. The rest is history.
How long did you plan the wedding after the proposal?
We planned our wedding for just a little over a year, we both really wanted either an April, or May wedding.
The top 3 challenges/difficulties of planning the wedding
1. Finding a venue that can accommodate our original 250 guest list, had an easily accessible outside area for our cigar bar, and do an 8-course style meal that wasn’t an Asian restaurant
2. All the celebrations were so much fun to have the 2 families and friends get to know each other – engagement party, bridal shower, and bachelor/bachelorette parties
3. Dance lessons for our first dance, bride and father dance and groom and aunt dance
What fun/unique feature of your wedding made you the proudest?
Hands down our choreographed first dance! We spent 10 weeks practicing the rumba to Hailey Reinhardt’s rendition of “Can’t Help Falling in Love With You” and also had one of my maid of honors Keiko choreograph a fast song by Deorro & Chris Brown “Five More Hours.” Best part was we had a dry ice machine blow out white clouds during our slow dance. So dreamy!
If you had it to do over, what would you change, add or do differently?
We wouldn’t change a thing and it was the best day ever! Jerry literally woke up the next morning asking if we can do that again!
