It all started on a chance meeting at a pub in Upland, California. After nine months of planning their wedding, Amber & Chris celebrated a gorgeous summer wedding and reception at Wedgewood at the Retreat. The event was captured by Shy Heart Studios. A wonderful Country Club reception!

Where did you meet?
Chris and I met at a pub in Upland called The Bulldog Pub. I was there for a birthday party and he had just stopped in to have a drink after work. He was too shy to come over and talk so he ended up staying and having a few more drinks than planned. We finally talked before the night was over. That was three years ago this month and have been together ever since.

From the proposal to the wedding!
The proposal was in September. We were married in July. We found our venue in October so about 9 months of planning after we set the date.

Biggest wedding challenge!
The most challenging part of planning the wedding  for us was finding a venue in our price range.
The second most challenging  part was setting the date. Trying to work around out of state friends and family was a little tough. We had originally planned to be married in September so the date was pushed up a few months after we found our venue.
The third most challenging part of the planning process was just simply making decisions with so many different options available to us.

Fun parts of the wedding
1.  One of the most fun parts of planning the wedding was attending the Bridal faire that was offered at our venue. It was really neat to see different ways to set up for the wedding and all the different vendors.
2.  The cake tasting was definitely a fun part!
3.  Picking our photographer was fun and getting to know her during our engagement shoot. This was something so important to us so we were so lucky to have found Briana. She made it so fun and easy.

Unique elements of the wedding
Our officiant is a personal friend and Christian pastor and our wedding was the last wedding he officiated before retirement. He was quick and to the point yet fun and made the ceremony enjoyable. I feel that he is a unique feature and we were proud to have him there on our special day.

Would we change anything?
If we had to change anything I would say do more research on our DJ. I personally wasn’t too impressed with him. He was included in our package with the venue. He was a little slow getting things started and at times I felt he could have kept things moving. If we could have added something it probably would have been a s’mores bar or candy bar.
