A Look at Beach Wedding Attire: Rings on our Fingers, Sand Between our Toes
Our love affair with each other began on the beach the summer we life guarded together, so it was only natural that when we decided to exchange “I Do’s”, an oceanfront aisle was a no brainier. Our theme? Barefoot elegance. Our dilemma? How to combine laid back luxury with the casual, intimate ceremony we dreamed of. We agreed that we didn’t want to compromise on sophisticated attire. How to combine it with the casual ambiance of our locale?
Bride’s Beach Wedding Attire
Right off the bat, I fell in love with a flowing, one-shouldered trumpet gown! Floral details on the strap and a modified sweetheart neckline put the chiffon A-line at the top of my must-have list. Coolly casual, with a definite romantic feel, it caught the summer breeze so beautifully. He was an absolute portrait of glam in a white linen suit.
Groom’s Beach Wedding Attire
My groom embraced our casual feel with sandals rather than traditional shoes, and capped it all off with a wide-brimmed Panama. He surprised me by replacing the black hat band with a bright turquoise silk scarf, the same shade as my MOH’s dress!
I dressed my gals in cotton halters that hit just above the knee. Keeping with our beach locale, each girl’s dress was a shade of blue. Cerulean, indigo, cornflower, blue jay and robin’s egg – the breezy feel was perfectly elegant. The groomsmen donned linen suits, matching my man’s in style and complementing his white suit with a sandy tan hue.
My bouquet was a sophisticated mix of daisies, wild roses and beach grasses, set off with sea glass inserts. My maids’ alternated simple bouquets of daisies and roses interspersed with grasses compatible with mine. The guys went with natural starfish instead of floral boutonnieres and my groom’s was dyed to match his hat band. We received so many compliments on that little touch!
Our special day was a dream come true a perfect union of casual intimacy and laid back luxury.
