The Evolution of the Well-Dressed Chair

When they walk up to their table, will they say, wow? Table design has to be there, but what about the chairs? Did you know chairs started off as objects that signified dignity rather than objects for ordinary use? If you look back on history, there are chairs made of ebony, marble, and detailed wood. Some were plated in gold. There were thrones for kings and queens, exotic chairs with intricate detailing, and chairs for different classes within society.

The Well-Dressed Chair – Tie the wedding theme together with beautifully dressed chairs in imaginative colors and designs. Compliment the table design.

Nowadays, chairs are common, everyday objects we find in our homes, our offices, and everywhere in between.

From Common To Extraordinary

So, how do you go about including something so commonplace into your table design and chair theme? You decorate it! Several years ago, chair decorations were limited to a basic chair cover in the color of your choosing. Today, you get to choose the color and you get to tailor your chair to your theme. Style the chairs to compliment and accent/support the table design.

Because chair decorations have changed so much, you now have the opportunity to incorporate them into your theme in a more seamless manner. Is your wedding theme inspired by Shakespeare, roses, and all things romantic? Envision this: centerpieces full of pink and ivory roses adorned with soft candlelight and wedding chairs with dusty rose colored ruffles softly draping down their backs.

What if your inclinations are a bit more modern? Try the multi-layered look that adds depth and complexity to a clean and simple place setting. This is a great way to keep things streamlined and chic. Other options to try: lace chair covers suit a vintage wedding theme, natural flowers go well with outdoor weddings, and seashells draped across the back of flowing ribbon go great with beach themed weddings.

Depending on your personal style, your dress and your theme, the options are endless. Gone are the days of tying a bow on the back of your chair. Welcome to a new era of being able to tie it all together on your big day!
