"Fun and formal" is the motto of the owner, Kristina Knapic who bought and refurbished the sprawling Acacia Mansion in 2004. Nestled in the center of the Ojai Valley on what used to be hundreds of acres of orange groves is now a walled Estate close to Downtown Ojai. During the town's earliest days, many came to learn the teachings of Krishnamurti of the Krotona Institute and one wealthy follower, a widow named Madeleine Baird, built her dream home. Madeleine brought many artisans from Europe to create a jaw dropping two-story entryway with alabaster floors and stained glass windows. Many of the ceilings are hand painted and the sweeping iron staircase is a beautiful backdrop for photos.
Couples like the owners' friendly attitude and the Mansion's romantic charm. The Acacia books only one wedding a weekend, with large summertime weddings held in the evening, when the mansion becomes a wonderland of twinkle lights. Even the orange trees, and the three stately palms out front are lit up. While some couples arrive in gown and tux in a horse-drawn carriage, most get ready in the dual suites provided as dressing rooms. The bride's is on the mansion's second floor, the Lavender room, with an antique dressing table while the groom's ready room is a large rustic barn outside by the garden which is outfitted with a billiards table and bar.
The grounds have many spacious areas to chose from for the ceremony and dining areas. Enter thru an iron trellis to a private gated garden filled with all white roses that seats 150 guests. Off the flagstone patio are Tuscan style gardens with a row of orange trees and a lavender circled fountain that seats 150 diners and may be tented.

Weddings are celebrated year round at the Acacia Mansion, along with private parties and corporate retreats. The Acacia also offers overnight accommodations for up to six couples.

The bride can make a dramatic entrance by descending the curved staircase and joining her groom in front of the living room's focal point, a Batchelder tiled fireplace. Ceremonies may also be held on the flagstone patio or in the white rose garden.

After the newlyweds have tied the knot, they're whisked away through a secret passage under the stairs reappearing on the iron balcony above the patio for their first toast. Then dining al fresco and dancing the night away on the lighted patio.
